dren had been left at his door by Bliss

The patrolman procured a doctor
a-rd medicine for Florence clothed
ooth and bought them toys. In every
wjy it was said Perez treated the
hildren as if they were hie own. Mrs.
ells said that she had So money to
'epay him but he would be rewarded.
Perez replied that ne did not expect i
any pay and would have done as much
for any children that needed care and
attention as the Bliss children aid.
Mrs Bliss who alleged that she
killed her husband to avoid living a
life of infamy into which she said he
sought to drive her by threats of vio-
lence was released on her own re-
cognizance. Mrs. Wells with the chil-
dren will leave El Paso tonight for
Socorro and from there will take Mrs.
Bliss and her family to Pueblo.
WILL HEAR PAVING
The hearing of protests if any. on
the part of property owners for the
paving of Mesa avenue from River to
Blacker streets is scheduled to come
up at the Thursday morning session of
the city council. Also the hearing on
th. paing of the alleys in blocks 218
and 219. Campbell addition has been
set down for the same time.
The ordinance assessing the cost
against property owners for the nav-
'r.g of Arizona street from Golden
Hill terrace to Hutton street will have
it second reading.
Property owners have filed a peti-
tion for the paving of Montezuma
street from Prospect avenue to West
Boulevard which will be submitted to
the city council Thursday morning.
Monition: Notice is hereby given
that there have been seized in this col-
ic tlon district for violation of the cus-
