- Didn't Die.
Unole Touomie Hayter, of Gordon-
ville, a notice of whoae strange pre-
sentation of death was published
some time since, did not die on the
22nd, as be expected. A large num-
ber of his kins people, who had been
convinced by the old man's earnest-
ness that something would happen on
that day, were present, but to their
agreeable siirprise the old man didn't
give up the ghost, but instead said be
felt better than he had before in twen-
ty years. There is another strange
feature about it; before the writing on
the wall the old man was so blind
that he could not distinguish his own
children from strangers, but since the
time he claims to have received the
warning of his approaching death, bis
eyesight has been coming back until
now he can see well.
Matters have been quiat over the
river for the last few dags, and it is
to be hoped, that everything haa
blown over.

the oity and reports everything aa
quiet in his beat with the exception
