which occurred one of the most pre
meditated and cooly calculated deeds
ever oommitted, and deoidedly the
most repulsive ever brought up for
consideration before a court of jastioe
in the oity of Sherman. Her teeti
mony is being taken in foil to be pre
sented at the finsl setting of the case
at the next term of the district court,
«t Fort Smith, Arkansas. At this hour
her testimony has not all Men taken,
but enoagb is in to show that
she corroborates every eironm
stance attached to the case, and
that Officer Johnson bad done a good
and righteous act iu the way be has
worked this case ap and landed tbe
parties in the Sherman prison. Tbe
eóandaloas intimations made by Mar-
tin in an interview with a Rewstkr
reporter at the time of tbe occurrence
show no signs of being vindicated or
established in the trial now in prog
rows.
Mrs. Martin, the aoonsed, sits in
the courtroom with twitehing hands
and nervons expression, but during
all the loathsome details does not
seem to exhibit the least signs of
sbame nor astonishment, though the
little victim unfalteringly recounted
all the deceptions and maohlgnation
employed to lure her from her home
to the foul den.
David Martin languishes behind
tbe bars with the ediot of the
conrt upon him, that there is not
enough wealth in the land to stand
out security for his freedom. It is such
