THE GRAIN SITUATION. '
'Frisco Reduces Ratea from Texaa
Points to Memphis.
Géfcvwtoir, Tex., July 27.—The
rate of 90o a 100 pounda on wheat
from Texaa common points to upper
Miaaiaaippi River crossing , which
wu put on a couple of week ago for
the purpose of relieving the pressure
of grain at Galveaton, will expire by
limitation of the notice on July 81.
The St. fcóuis Southwestern, however,
nn yesterday announced a rate of l6c
from it Texas atationa to Memphis,
effective July'80, with no limit for
expiration. This will probably have
the effect of paliingdowa all the ratea
for eastern movement. The St. Louie
Southwestern took thia action, it ia
s«id, to meet the 15c rate made to
New Orleana several daya ago by the
flunset-Centrai lines and the Twxaa
and Pacific, the latter putting in the
rate to meet the action of the former.
The reduction to 15c ia lOc below the
normal rale* in elfeot to Mississippi
River crossings. The blookade in
grain at Galveston has been relieved
and the officials of Galveaton linea
believe the grain can be handled
through this port without difficulty.
The situation here today was as fol-
