Both the Hot Springs and Carlsbad waters are too hot for use when drawn in the tubs
direct from the wells. The Hot Springs water contains but 11.8 grains of minerals to the
gallon, while in the Carlsbad water 230 out of 291 grains are sulphate and chloride of sodium.
The Hot Sulphur Water at San Antonio is used not only for bathing, but also for drink-
ing purposes, and when used as a beverage in connection \with the baths, its efficacious results
are remarkable. The prices of baths, 35 cents each, are reasonable, while a course for a week
or more may be had at a lower rate. Their wonderful curative properties are highly com-
mended and indorsed by leading physicians of San Antonio and other cities throughout the
country, who have had occasion to test them in connection with certain diseases of their
