Des Moiaes Has Serious Epidemic
of Smallpox.
St. Paul Minn. March 27. A
special from Des Moines la. says:
Mayor Hartenbower issued a
proclamation Wednesday request-
ing that all public schools theaters
and churches and other places of
public assembly be closed on ac-
count of the prevalence of small-
pox. Several new cases were dis-
covered Wednesday.
It is conservatively estimated
that there are at least 200 cases in
Des Moines now.
