1 SECTION 5. The changes in law made by this Act to Subsection
2 (a), Section 201.1021, and Subsection (a), Section 201.2021, Family
3 Code, apply only to the appointment of an associate judge under
4 Subchapter B or C, Chapter 201, Family Code, on or after the
5 effective date of this Act. The appointment of an associate judge
6 before that date is governed by the law in effect on the date the
7 appointment was made, and the former law is continued in effect for
8 that purpose.
9 SECTION 6. The changes in law made by this Act to Subsection
10 (b), Section 201.113, and Subsection (c), Section 201.208, Family
11 Code, apply only to the appointment of a visiting associate judge
12 under Subchapter B or C, Chapter 201, Family Code, on or after the
13 effective date of this Act. The appointment of a visiting associate
14 judge before that date is governed by the law in effect on the date
15 the appointment was made, and the former law is continued in effect
16 for that purpose.
17 SECTION 7. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
18 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
19 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
20 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
21 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.3
