J. W. Chandler
Announces For
County Judge
In announcing my candidacy for
the office of County Judge, sub-
ject to the action of t h c Demo-
cratic Primaries, I would first like
to thank the four County Commis-
sioners for the confidence reposad
in me in appointing me to (he of-
fice of County Judge on January
1, ;P57. to fill the unexpired por-
tion of Judge Summers' term. I
accepted such appointment be-
cause I like the work as County
Judge and believe that the sev-
eral years in law practice and gen-
eral business experience that I
have had qualify me to serve in
such capacity.
The duties of the office of
County Judge are many and var-
ied; some of which include ap-
pointment and supervision of
Guardians, Exccutors and Admin-
istrators of estates; commitment
of persons to state schools and
hospitals, as well as retrial and
hearing applications for release of
any patients in Rusk State Hospi-
tal. regardless of the county from
which such patient is committed;
hearing applications for delayed
filing of birth certificates; and the
trial of all civil and criminal cas-
es within the jurisdiction of the
County Ci urL
The County Judge is also pre-
siding officer of the Commission-
ers' Court, which is charged with
the administration of the general;
business and financial affairs of
the county. The county is now in
good financial condition, as is in-;
dicated by County Auditor's an-
nual statement being published j
this week, and we vust keep this!
good record in effect.
If elected by the people to the'
office of County Judge, it will be;
mv constant effort while serving a > f\ «
as such to promote the general ftCV. A. J* CrCCl
welfare of all the people and yet
keep the county in good financial l01-.. J__D 1
condition. It will be my aim at all LOIlGllCtS I\eVlV<U
times, whether I am passing upon
the business affairs of the county j A
or sitting as a Court, to, in base- *VUoIV VsIlUI l ll
ball parlance, "call them as I see <
them", regardless of the persons:
or property involved.
1 respectfully request that you!
consider my candidacy for this of-
fice. and if you see fit to support
me. I assure you that no one will
.appreciate your vote or support
more than I.

** FASHION: U.S.i.**
i ly VT)
Photo by Sears, Roebuck and Co,
NO WAIST OR LOW WAIST—that's the way to describe most
of this Spring's incoming fashions. Sometimes they're One-Piece
and look two-piece, sometimes they're Two-Piece and look one-
piece, but always they're all of a piece with the Youno look that is
so definitely 1958. They're Shorter By An Inch or two—let your
mirror and your own good judgment be your guide—but face the
fact that not since World War II have legs been so much in view,
and not in many seasons has it been so important to have them
beautifully groomed and gossamer clad. When you buy a new
dress be sure your stockings are worthy of it! And besides being
shorter the new dresses are Slimmer, and seem even more so after
the petticoated skirts of yesteryear. They're Uncluttered—sleek as
"i. modern skyscraper. Rolls and bulges are happily eclipsed under
their Relaxed Waistlines, but don't think that this means a pretty
figure is lost sight of. Not at all. But today's preference is to sug-
gest, rather than to flaunt, your feminine curves!

century mark in the Pulpwood In-
dustry January 24, 1958.
During the past 25 years, Little
has made available to the Farm-

and adjoining areas a ready and
stable market for one of their
most important products.
"I want to take this opportuni-
ty to thank all the people who
helped make my long time in the
business possible," says Little.
"And I want to see another quar-
ter century mark go by, so protect
your timber from fire and harvest
