Grand Opening of the
new Century 21 office in
|Rusk will be held from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at
their location one mile
south of Rusk on U.S. High-
way 69:
Tom Ball of Rusk and
Woody Wood of Jackson-
ville are the owners of the
Rusk office, which is a
second location of Piney-
woods Realty, located in
Jacksonville.
"We invite everyone to
stop in and get
acquainted," says Ball.
"We hope our new office
will help us serve the
people of Cherokee County
better."
Sales associate Raymond
Cooper of Rusk and several
associates of Jacksonville
will be on hand for the open
house Saturday.
Free cold drinks, coffee
and popcorn will be offered
during the open house.
Regular office hours will be
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday
through Friday.
Rep.Whitehead Urges Participation
Representative Emmett H.
Whitehead of Rusk today urged all the
people of the 15th Legislature District
to be counted in the 1980 Decennial
Census, which begins on April 1.
Rep. Whitehead said: "Census
forms will be mailed out in most parts
of the state on March 28 and you will
receive them by April 1.1 want to urge
each of you to fill out your form
completely and return it as soon as
you can. It is critical that everyone
in Texas be counted this time."
Population totals from the 1980
Census will be important both for
state and congressional redisricting
in 1981 and for allocation of federal
funds to local units of government for
the next ten years.
Two kinds of forms will be sent out.
Most eople will receive a short form
contr ining several questions on age.
race and housing. Every sixth
household will receive a long form
with additional questions on housing
and income.
The Legislator said: "Some of the
questions asked on the Census form
may seem to be personal, but your
answers are confidential under the
law and can never be revealed ;t«
anyope. The answers to theij
questions are used in allocating
billions of dollars in federal ttfa
money to the states. Texas receiving
its fair share depends on ytfy
answering the census form and bein't:
counted."
"The most important use of tj5t
census figures will be in legislative
redistricting. Your right to fair ari(i
equal representation in the U.S
Congress and in your state legislature
depends upon your being counted oti
April 1."
