Rotary club for special honors this month. They are the club's official Junior
Rotarians for November. They are senior students at Rusk High School.

Omicron Gamma chap-
ter of Beta Sigma Phi met
in the home of Suzanne
Vermillion Tuesday, Oct. 7
at 7 p m. for the regular
business meeting and to
fete the traditional
preferential tea in honor of
pledge Nell McNatt.
The pledge ritual was
performed by President
Suzanne Vermillion who
was assisted by Vice
President Tanya Kallsen.
After completion of the
ritual, members were ser-
ved refreshments of cake
squares, nuts, mints and
punch. Secret sisters were
revealed and names ex-
changed for the coming
vear.
Members attending in-
cluded Suzanne Vermillion,
Tanya Kallsen, Ernestine
Clay, Mary Byers, Joyce
Berry, Dorothy Boyett,
ileanor Lockett, Cissy
.'rysup, Sue Jared, Nell
McNatt, Nancy Mims,

Thompson, Jamie
McElroy, Beth Long, Jen-
nie Sullivan and Linda
Ball.
The group also met Nov.
4 at 7 p.m. in the home of
Sharron Thompson.

business meeting and
committee reports were
given. Discussion was
heard regarding the Ways
and Means project and the
decision was to have a
bakeiess cake sale
Members reminisced
about the Halloween
costume social held at the
home of Nancy Mims.
Members and their
husbands dressed to the
occasion and decor was
complete with cobwebs,
ghosts and goblins-that is
with the help of some high
school students.
Program was given on
"Election 1980" and
refreshments of pizza,
tossed salad, cake and cold
drinks were served by the
hostesses.

baby brother, Jonathan
Chad, at 11:15 a.m. Oct. 25
at Nan Travis Memorial
Hospital in Jacksonville.
The newest member to
the family weighed 9 poun-
ds, 14 ounces.
Parents of the baby are
Mr. and Mrs. Leland I.
Walker of Rusk.
Grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Ira I. Walker and
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Knott,
all of Rusk.
Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Penn
and Amy of Abilene are
pleased to announce the
birth of a new son and
brother, Andrew Thomas,
Oct. 16. He weighted 7 lbs. 8
oz. and was 20 inches long.

Tyler, Mrs. Bobbie Penn
and James Penn of Rusk;

A meeting of Preceptor
Zeta Gamma Chapter of
Beta Sigma Phi was held
Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 7:30
p.m. at the First State
Bank.
The program, "Peter
Marshall," was presented
by Melba Campbell. She
read a prayer written by
him, entitled "Election
Day."
Mauriete Hassell an-
nounced that the chapter's
Thanksgiving dinner party
will be held on Nov. 18 at
6:30 p.m. at the New
Southern Motel
Restaurant
Casa Club
Chooses
Officers
The Casa Club met Oct.
20 in the home of Mrs.
Zuma Huddleston with
Mrs. Ada Wallace as
hostess and had 12 mem-
bers and one visitor
present. Mrs. Dorothy
Rambo brought the
program on small applian-
ces.
The Nominating commit-
tee slate of officers for 1981
was the same as now ser-
ving with one exception.
Miss Varine Sanders was
nominated as Publicity
Chairman. All the officers
were re-elected by ac-
clamation.
Miss Varine Sanders
reported on the State
Meeting and all members
are urged to remember and
attend Rally Day at Cen-
tral High Community, Nov
13.
The club will meet in the
home of Mrs. Irene
Starkey, Nov. 7. The time
Mrs. Starkey asked the
members to arrive at her
home is fifteen minutes to
twelve noon not before that
time.
Mrs. Wallace and her
daughter served snacks,
sandwiches, and cake to
the club. Her table was
beautifully appointed and
everyone enjoyed the
refreshments.
Rusk
Folks
Roscoe Glidewell of Rusk
is in Presbyterian Hospital
in Dallas where he went af-
ter suffering a stroke. He
entered the hospital Nov. 4.
According to his wife,
Velma Glidewell, he is
doing well and is preparing
to undergo tests.

meeting was conducted by
Mary Van Zandt,
president.
The chapter members
worked on a project to be
sold at the Christmas
Bazaar and bake sale
scheduled for Dec. 4 and 5.
One work session was
held Nov. 7 at the home of
Franees Boone and another
will be held at 6:30 Thur-
sday, Nov. 13, at Marie's
Unique Boutique.
Refreshments were ser-
ved by the hostess, Mrs.
Campbell.
Mary Ray won the
hostess gift.

MRS. C. D. MONROE, co-owner of Rusk Florist, displays a plaque presented to
her noting the florist's 25 years of consistent and meritorious services as a member
of the Florists' Transworld Delivery Association. Rusk Florist has been a member
of the organization since 1955. The presentation was made to Mrs. Monroe by Dusto
Aono, Region 9 director at a Region 9 meeting Oct. 25 in Tyler. Mr. Monroe is
shown with his wife.

The Alpha Alpha Gamma
chapter of Beta Sigma Phi
met Nov. 3 at the home of
Karen Vaught.
A short business meeting
included discussion of
proceeds and expenses
from the Halloween Car-
nival, service projects for
Christmas, fruit baskets
for shut-ins at
Thanksgiving and the an-
nual Thanksgiving
progressive dinner.
During the meeting,
members voted to make
donations to the Rusk High
School Ag Department for
the use of their cotton can-
dy machine at the carnival
and to the family of Connie
Cook.
Martha Peloquin and
Brenda Musgraves presen-
ted a creative program on
Thanksgiving after the
meeting. Each member
created a Thanksgiving
design from construction
paper and told what the
season meant to her
Hostesses Mary Jane
Jones and Karen Vaught
served the "all-American"
favorites of hot dogs, apple
pie and iced tea during the
social time. In keeping with
this theme, each member
came to the meeting
dressed as someone who
contributed to American
history. Dianne Sinclair
won the hostess gift for her
costume of a pioneer
woman.
Other members present
included Karen Vaught,
Elaine Swafford and Kim
Wood, all dressed as Ben
Franklin; Leslie Hassell as
the sister of Will Rogers,
who helped found Beta
Sigma Phi; Brenda
Musgraves as an Indian fur
trader; Marilyn Harris as
a Pilgrim woman; Mary
Jane Jones and Dottie Nor-
ton as pioneer women;
Martha Peloquin as Babe
Didrikson Zaharais; Teddy
Pearman as Betsy Ross;
Lou Ann Raiborn as Annie
Oakley; Joy Helm as Paul
Revere; and Glenda John-
son as Davy Crockett.
The next meeting will be
the Thanksgiving
progressive dinner Nov. 17.
