"I CANT SAY I hope you enjoy it," State Senator Bill Haley tells
persons attending dedication of a new county jail Friday after-
noon. Haley praised citizens of the county for seeing a need for
a new jail and going toward in getting the facility constructed.

MISDEMEANOR DOCKET
State of Texas vs.:
Roycell Warren, charged with
criminal trespass. Defendant ap-
peared without Counsel. After bell*
duly warned, Defendant waived his
right to a Jury trial, submitted his
case to the Court and entered a plea
of guilty. After evidence heard,
Court found Defendant guilty and
assessed punishment at 60 days
confinement in the Cherokee Coun-
ty Jail.
Robert Green, charged with DWI-
Motion to Revoke. Defendant ap-
peared without Counsel. After being
duly warned, Defendant entered a
plea of "True" to the allegations
contained in the State's Motion to
revoke Probation. After evidence
heard, Court found Defendant did
violate certain terms and con-
ditions of his probation and revoked
Defendant's probation, assessing
punishment at 30 days confinement
in the Cherokee County Jail. Court
Costs 890.50, Driver's license
suspended for one year.
Tasting Tea and
Quilt Show set
for July 15
A Tasting Tea and Quilt Show in-
troducting the new UMW Cookbook,
will be held from 11 a.m. until 1
p.m., Saturday, July 15 in the
Fellowship Hall of A. Frank Smith
United Methodist Church, Alto.
Tickets for the Tasting Tea will be
avaUable at the door the day of the
Tea for $3 each. Donations and
sales of the new UMW Cookbook
will go towards Missions supported
by the Church. The cookbook will go
on sale for 86.
A drawing will be held the day of
the Show for a pansy quilt made by
the members of the UMW

Peace, Precinct 3, repeates
the oath of office last week at
a meeting of the Cherokee
County commissioners. Pat-
ton, of Jacksonville, was ap-
pointed to fill a position,
formerly held by Buddy Lacy
of Jacksonville, who is
