John Seguine Bolton and family
traveled from Raleigh, N.C. to
Kilgore for a five generation por-
trait with Mrs. Bolton's grand-
mother.
Velma Butler was visiting in
Houston with her sister, Maxine
Alexander when the Bolton's called
to say they would be in East Texas
on Aug. 26 and 27.
Telephoning among family
members spread the word and on
Aug. 27, twenty six descendants
met at the J. Hemby Norwood's
. home for a joyous gathering.

and Joshua; and other guests were
Charlene Graham, Jon Cleveland,
Darla Willis and Sam Lee all of
Rusk.
The oldest member present was
81 and the youngest was five weeks.

Parsleys
present
program
Dwight and Kathy Parsley own-
ers of Cherokee Gym and Fitness
Center in Jacksonville presented a
program Wednesday at the Rotary
Club luncheon.
Three four-year old children, Greg
Calvin, Jackie Tarrant of Jackson-
ville and Kristen Ross of Rusk all
students ofthe Parsleys did several
tumbling acts.
"Teach a child to practice physical
fitness and he will always follow it.
Children in the three to five year
age level need this supervision and
they get to like it. The goals in
children and adults is to develop
self-discipline and self motivation,"
stated Mrs. Parsley.
Ken Smith was program chair-
man and introduced Dwight Pars-
ley, who introduced Mrs. Parsley
and the children.
The State Highway Department
has let a contract for highway im-
provements on roadways in Chero-
kee and Gregg Counties. Sections of
highways to receive improvements
are US 175 in Jacksonville, U.S. 69
in Jacksonville, US 69 in Rusk, FM
347 in Jacksonville and FM 1845 in
Longview. '
Improvements on each highway
include a sealing treatmentand new
pavement markings. All work being
done on these roadways should be
completed by November of this
year.
Bituminous Asphalt Sealing Spe-
cialists Inc. of North Little Rock,
Ark. was awarded this contract after
submitti ng the low bidin the amount
of $652,813.43.
Motorists are urged to use ex-
treme caution when driving through
Ballot applications
for absentee voting
are available
A number of persons wanting to
vote absentee can either call or pick
up applications at the Cherokee
County Clerk's office before absen-
tee balloting begins on Oct. 17, ac-
cording to Fairy Upshaw, county
clerk.
Mrs. Upshaw says those pei^Dns
who are 66 years of age or older,
college students, military persons,
physically disabled persons, and
those voting absentee for religious
reasons can call the county clerk's
office or pick up the applications
there.
Absentee balloti ng for the Novem-
ber 6 General Election in Texas is
scheduled for Oct. 17 to Nov. 2 at
Mrs. Upshaw's office in the Chero-
kee County Clerk's office or at the
Jacksonville Activity Center.

slates reunion
A Reklaw School reunion will be
held from 10-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct.
27 at the Reklaw Community Cen-
ter.
All former students and teachers
of the school system (and their
spouses) are invited to attend this
event.
There will be a covered dish lunch-
eon with fellowship before and af-
ter. Beverages and eating utensils
will be provided and those planning
