87, of Reklaw was at p.m.
Wednesday in the Dickie Allen
Funeral Home Chapel with
Jack Orbison officiating. Burial
was in Walker Chapel Cem-
etery at Reklaw.
Mr. Irwin died Monday in
Reklaw. He was born Sept. 22,
1914, in Reklaw to John and
Emma Young Irwin. Mr. Irwin
lived most of his hfe in Reklaw
and also hved in Houston and
Lufkin. Ha was a member
of the Church of Christ and
was a fireman for Southern
Pacific Railroad for 30 years.
He was a member of the New
Salem Masonic Lodge and a
Shriner.He was preceded in
death by a son, Luke Irwin Jr. :
a daughter, Francis Ann Irwin;
a grandson, Rodney Irwin; six
brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors are his wife, Sara
Francis McCann Irwin of
Reklaw; three sons and a
daugh ter-in Jaw, John H. Irwin
of Reklaw, Byron O. and Patri-
cia Irwin of Spring and Paul
R. Irwin of Reklaw: a brother

of Operations, two Bronze
Stars, a Purple Heart and a
Good Conduct Medal. He was

son Funeral Home Chapel in
Jacksonville with the Rev.
James Blaylock officiating.
Burial was in Jarratt Cem-
etery.
Mrs. Henderson died Nov. 28
in Tyler. She was born Sept,
5, 1917, in Jacksonville to
the late W.P Lemaster and
Georgia Broeder. She was a
homemaker and member of
Corinth Biiplist church.
She was preceded in death
by her husbands, R.M. Davis
and Irvin Henderson and son,
Billy Bob Davis.

Mrs. Smith died Nov. 29 in
East Texas Medical Center
Jacksonville. She was born Dec.
11, 1913, in Rusk, and was a
hfelong Ruskresident. She was
a Baptist and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Elton Smith
in 1971.
Survivors are a son and
daughter-in-law, N.R. (Pete)
and Celia Smith of Houston;
a grandson, Larry Smith of
Houston; and several nieces
and nephews.

Patrolmanfor 18 years and was
named Patrolman of the Year
in 1954. His last two years
were with the U.S. Marshal's
Service.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, Arthur and
Myrtle Thomasson; his son.
Robert L. Thomasson; and two
brothers, Cryus and Cleon
Thomasson.
Survivors are his wife of 32
years. Ruby Kelly Thomasson;

Mrs. Bomer died Dec. 1 at
Palestine Regional Medical
Center. She was born in Hous-
ton to Rudolph and Ethel Roco
who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her hus-
band, Elton Bonier of Mon-
talba; a son and daughter-in-
law, Cliff and Michele Bomer
of Athens; a daughter and
son-in-law. Elayne and Glenn
Rust of Houston; and three
grandchildren. Caitlin Bómer
of Athens and Adam and Chase

The Texas Department of
Human Services is sponsoring
a Christmas project that is
aimed at assisting elderly and
disabled adults in Cherokee
County. Many of the recipients
have very limited income and
have little or no family to
assist them. Without interven-
tion, they may not have a
Christmas.
The project is "Adopt the
Elderly' and is similar to
the familiar 'Angel Tree pro-
gram. Beginning on Nov. 21,
a Christmas tree with tags,
was placed at Hibernia Bank
in Jacksonville and tags may
also be found on the tree at
Southern Cherokee Federal
Credit Union. The tags have
the individuals information
concerning needs, wants, and
sizes, Any individual, busi-
ness. group or organization can
choose a tag to adopt for Christ-
mas 2001. The donated items
and/or gifts Can be dropped
off at either the Rusk or
Jacksonville Department of
Human Services, Southern
Cherokee Federal Credit Union
in Rusk, or Anita's Apparel and
Accessories located on Main
Street in Rusk.

soring one of the community's
most needy people for Christ-
mas, or have questions
regarding this project, may
