CREATING AND INCORPORATING THE CLAUENE INDEPENDENT
SCHOOL DISTRICT IN HOCKLEY COUNTY.
H. B. No. 235.] CHAPTER 30.
An Act creating and incorporating Clauene Independent School District
in Hockley County, Texas; defining the boundaries thereof; providing
for a board of trustees, their election, term of office, qualifications,
powers, duties and authority; authorizing said board to levy, assess
and collect a tax for maintenance and building purposes and to issue
bonds, and authorizing an election to care for the interest and sinking
funds on such bonds; providing for an assessor and collector of
taxes and for a board of equalization; providing that the Clauene Independent
School District No. 6 shall assume and discharge any and
all valid outstanding obligations and indebtedness of Ropes Independent
School District No. 1, within the metes and bounds of the
said Clauene Independent School District No. 6, in Hockley County,
Texas; validating and continuing in force all taxes heretofore vested
and now in force in said Ropes Independent School District No. 1,
providing that title to all property now vested in Ropes Independent
School District No. 1, within the boundaries of the Clauene Independent
School District No. 6, shall, on the passage of this Act, vest
in Clauene Independent School District as hereing created; providing
for filling vacancies in the board of trustees; providing for a seal for
said district; providing that the board of trustees of said district shall
in all things be governed by the General Laws of Texas relating to
Independent School Districts in matters where this Act is silent; repealing
all laws in conflict herewith; providing that invalidation by
the courts of any provision of this Act shall not invalidate any remaining
portion or provision, and declaring an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. An independent school district to be known as
Clauene Independent School District No. 6, situated in Hockley
County, Texas, is hereby created as an incorporation for school
purposes only.
SEC. 2. The said Clauene Independent School District, hereby
created, shall compose territory described by metes and bounds
as follows, to-wit:
Beginning at a point on the south line of Hockley and the
north line of Terry County at the southeast corner of Section
No. 18, John Doyle land; thence, N. along the E. line of Sec. 18,
John Doyle land, and along the E. line of League No. 36, Zavala
County School land and the east league line No. 53, Concho
County school land to the N. W. corner of League No. 24, McCulloch
County school land; thence, east from the N. W. corner of
the McCulloch County school land League, No. 24, along the
north line, the said McCulloch County school land League No.
24, to the N. E. corner of the said McCulloch County School land
League No. 24; thence north along the east line of the Wharton
County school land League No. 25, to the northeast corner of the
said Wharton County school land League No. 25; thence, west
from the N. E. corner of the said Wharton County school land
League No. 25, along with the north line of the said Wharton
County school land League No. 25, and the north line of Leagues
32 and 31, Baylor County school land and the north lines of
Leagues 41 and 42, Rains County school land and to the N. W.
