[NOTE-The enrolled bill shows that the foregoing Act passed the
House of Repiesentatives, yeas 108. nays 0; and passed the Senate,
with amendment, yeas 22, nays 1, and that the House concurred in
Senate amendment. no vote given.]
[The foiego ng Act was presented to the Governor of Texas for
his approval on the 1st day of March. A. D. 1923, but was not s'gned
by him nor returned to the House in which it originated, with his
objections thereto, within the time prescribed by the Constitution, and
thereupon became a law without his signature.]
Effective 90 days after adjournment.
CREATING SPRINGLAKE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
IN LAMB COUNTY.
H B. No 234.1 CHAPTER 43.
An Act creating the Springlake Independent School District in Lamb
County, Texas; defining its boundaries; providing for a board of trustees
in said district, conferring upon said district and its board of trustees
all the rights, powers, privileges and duties now conferred and imposed
by the General Laws of Texas upon independent school districts and
the trustees thereof; providing for the election of its first board of trustees
and their successors, providing that certain territory taken away
from the Sudan Independent School District in Lamb County, Texas,
and placed within the Springlake Independent School District shall
remain chargeable with its pro rata part of any bonded indebtedness
heretofore voted in said Sudan Independent School District; and providing
that the Springlake Independent School District as herein created
mav as a whole vote to assume such pro rata part of said bonds; providing
for the appointment of a board of equalization and tax assessor
and collector for said district; and declaring an emergency.
Be it enacted 1b the Legislatlre of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. That the Spr;nglake Independent School District is
hereby created and established in Lamb County, Texas, containing
within its limits the following described territory towit:
Beginning in the north boundary line of Lamb County, the northwest
corner of the Olton Independent School District as described
in an Act passed at the Third Called Session of the Thirty-sixth
Legislature. the same being H. B. No. 27 of said Called Session;
thence west with the north boundary line of said Lamb County to
a point under a north and south fence line where said county boundarv
crosses said fence 3554 vrs. west of the east boundary line of
State Capitol League No. 582 for the northwest corner of this school
district: thence south 1 06' west w'th said fence line, crossing the
south line of State Capitol League No. 620, 3807 vrs. west of its
southeast corner, to the north boundary line of Dallam County
