be as is provided in the General Laws governing independent school
SEC. 20. All taxes assessed and levied under this Act shall be
due and payable on or before the first day of February of each year
next after the date of such assessment and levy.
SEC. 21. The levying and assessing of the taxes as herein provided
for and in the manner herein provided, shall create a lien upon all
taxable property of such district. In case it shall at any time become
necessary to enforce said lien by judicial proceedings, it shall be,
and it is hereby made the duty of the county attorney of Colorado
County. Texas, to represent the district in the enforcement of its
lien for such taxes, and he shall receive therefor such compensation as
is provided by law for the enforcement of other tax liens for county
and State purposes. Such suit or suits shall be instituted or prosecuted
in the name of the Weimar Independent S'hool District as
SEC. 22. The available school funds that have heretofore, or that
may be hereafter apportioned to said district, shall be paid immediately
upon the passage of this Act. and the organization of said
board of trustees, to the treasurer of said board, after he shall have
qualifiedd and given bond.
SEC. 23. The Weimar Independent School District is hereby authorized
to add territory thereto in the same manner as is provided
by the General Laws of this State in Article 2865 Revised Statutes
1911, except that said territory to be added need not be entirely
contiguous to one side of said district, but that same may be added
if it is only partially contiguous to one or more sides thereof,
or entirely contiguous to, one o'r more sides thereof, and that such
additions mav be made not only to the district as created by this Act,
but to said district after same has been increased as herein provided,
and provided further that the provision of the General Laws limitin'
the area cf independent school districts to twenty-five square
miles shall not apply to this district.
SEC. 24. The local maintenance school tax being assessed, levied,
and collected in the territory comprising this district at the time of
the passage of this Act, shall not be abrogated by the passage thereof,
but that the same shall continue to be levied, assessed, and collected
until the same shall be increased, decreased, or discontinued by vote
of the people of said district, as in such cases is provided by the
General Laws of this State.
SEC. 25. Any territory that may be added to the Weimar Independent
School District, as in this Act provided, and all taxable
property contained in said added territory, shall bear its pro rata
part of all school taxes, and the officers whose duty it is to levy,
assess, and collect local maintenance school taxes in, said Weimar
Independent School District, shall also levy, assess, and collect such
school taxes within such territory as may be added to sa;d district,
as herein provided, as is being levied in said district at the time of
said addition thereto.
SEC. 26. The board of trustees of Weimar Independent School District
shall have power to provide for the means of transportation of
the school children to and from the public free schools in said dis2-Spec.
