No. 585 1 AN ACT 2 relating to the authority of the Edwards Aquifer Authority to adopt 3 rules relating to fire control. 4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 5 SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 626, Acts of the 73rd 6 Legislature, Regular Session, 1993, is amended by adding Section 7 1.081 to read as follows: 8 Sec. 1.081. FIRE CONTROL. To protect the water quality of 9 the aquifer, the board shall adopt rules regarding the control of 10 fires in the aquifer's recharge zone. In adopting rules under this 11 section, the board shall consult with fire departments and fire 12 marshals with jurisdiction over the recharge zone. 13 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 14 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 15 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
16 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 17 Act takes effect September 1, 2007.
