HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
1 WHEREAS, Tyehimba Crear has been named first place and grand
2 prize winner of the 2002-2003 Race Against Drugs poster contest
3 sponsored by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Newspaper in Education
4 program; and
5 WHEREAS, The competition's guidelines required participants
6 to illustrate the theme "Race Against Drugs" and demonstrate an
7 understanding of the detrimental effects of drugs; the annual
8 contest is a component of the Newspaper in Education program
9 "Pathways to a Drug-Free Life" sponsored by Texas Motor Speedway;
11 WHEREAS, A fourth grader at Sunrise Elementary School, where
12 she is a student of Katherine Murphy, Ms. Crear fashioned a warning
13 titled "Don't Get Caught in the Web of Drugs" that features figures
14 trapped in a spider web; and
15 WHEREAS, This outstanding - young Texan has shown great
16 creativity, initiative, and maturity in creating a poster that so
17 aptly illustrates the contest's worthy goals; now, therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas
19 hereby congratulate Tyehimba Crear on her receipt of first place
20 and grand prize ranking in the 2002-2003 Race Against Drugs poster
21 contest and extend to her warmest best wishes for continued success
22 and happiness; and, be it further
23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
24 prepared for Ms. Crear as an expression of high regard by the Texas
