1 (2) abusive and addictive behavior of certain persons
2 who use prescription pain medications;
3 (3) common diversion strategies employed by certain
4 persons who use prescription pain medications, including
5 fraudulent prescription patterns; and
6 (4) the appropriate use of pain medications and the
7 differences between addiction, pseudo-addiction, tolerance, and
8 physical dependence.
9 Sec. 254.014. POISON CONTROL CENTER INFORMATION. The board
10 shall provide to license holders information regarding the services
11 provided by poison control centers.
12 SECTION 4. Subchapter D, Chapter 301, Occupations Code, is
13 amended by adding Sections 301.1581 and 301.1582 to read as
14 follows:
15 Sec. 301.1581. INFORMATION PROVIDED TO LICENSE HOLDERS. At
16 least once each biennium, the board shall provide to license
17 holders information on:
18 (1) prescribing and dispensing pain medications, with
19 particular emphasis on Schedule II and Schedule III controlled
20 substances;
21 (2) abusive and addictive behavior of certain persons
22 who use prescription pain medications;
23 (3) common diversion strategies employed by certain
24 persons who use prescription pain medications, including
25 fraudulent prescription patterns; and
26 (4) the appropriate use of pain medications and the
27 differences between addiction, pseudo-addiction, tolerance, and3
