S.B. No. 1567
1 (2) a federal law enforcement officer or special agent
2 performing duties in this state, including those officers under
3 Article 2.122, Code of Criminal Procedure; or
4 (3) a corrections or detention officer or county or
5 municipal jailer employed or appointed by a municipal, county, or
6 state penal institution in this state.
7 Sec. 3105.004. MAINTENANCE OF MEMORIAL. (a) The board is
8 responsible for the maintenance of the memorial. The board shall:
9 (1) establish a schedule for the maintenance of the
10 memorial; and
11 (2) select persons to maintain the memorial.
12 (b) The commission shall:
13 (1) establish and maintain historical and archival
14 records of the inducted officers and jailers that must be
15 accessible to family members and independent researchers;
16 (2) adopt rules and establish procedures for adding
17 names to the memorial in accordance with Section 3105.003; and
18 (3) raise money from private or public entities for
19 the continued maintenance and update of the memorial and transfer
20 all the money to the board.
21 (c) The commission may contract with public or private
22 entities to:
23 (1) facilitate research;
24 (2) establish and maintain historical and archival
25 records; and
26 (3) store records in a place accessible to the public.
