WHAT IS MALARIA?
A Plan to Successfully Combat a
Disease tha( Defies Analysis.
The once accepted theory that malaria
nourished only tn wet swampy localities
and followed the clearing of large tracts
of land Is no longer tenable as the ma
jority of Us victims are now numbered.
among inhabitants or cities and long-
established settlements.
Hut laying aside all questlonsof theory
we come fare to race with the vital ques
tion what Is malaria? and bow la It to
be suceessrully vanquished ? To the first
Inquiry we reply malaria (bad air) from
hlcli the word Is derived explains Its
character exactly. Had air taken Into
the lungs and disseminated through the
blood poisons the entlro system and
typhoid fever malarial fever diphtheria
and other dangerous diseases follow.
Equally bad effects result rrom contam-
inated water bad drainage or continued
overexertion as they nil cause lost or
nervo life the essence of physical well-
being. Malarial poison cannot be detected by
chemical tests and Is only known by Its
effects upon the system.
One or tbe worst cases of malaria was
that or Mrs. C. F. lloahen or 07 Fifth
street Troy N. V. Her experience or
great value. Is given that others may re-
ceive like benefit. She suffered not only
irom malaria tier complexion oeing
or ft saffron hue but also rrom enlarge-
ment or the liver. Her appetite was
ravenous especially for acids. "One
day" says Mrs. Ilosnen "my physician
asked for sample or fluid for chemical
analysis. 1 was then passing seven
ounceta day which he reported as very
bad' and that he could do no more for

Lounsbury. of 228 Lake St. Chicago
in. la anoiner remarkauie one. lie savs:
"In addition to being dizzy and having
n tallow complexion my digestion was
any with severe pains in my dowois.
Finally 1 became too 111 to leave mv bed

From the above It will he observed
that malaria has no certain localities for
Its own but lurks wherever bad air and
water predominate. Tbe only sure
meiuoii to counteract us poisonous er-
iects is to check- us nrst developments.
