MIDNIGHT VISITORS.
They U9e Chloroform to Elfect
Their Purpose.
About 1 o'clock .Sunday morning an
attempt at burglary or to vllect a dia
bolical purpose waa made at the
residence of Mrs. Wlllburn who
lives closo by Hitters' saloon near
the Sunset depot. Two men opened
ono of. the windows of the home
and stepped Into the room where Mrs.
H lllhorn wns sleeping and approach
ing her one of the midnight visitors
threw a cloth over her head and face
and pressed her to the ground. Mrs.
lllhurn screamed for help but her
cries were faint the chloroform with
which the rag was saturated causing
her to lapse Into unconsciousness. She
Just remembers hearing the oilier man
oall out lo his commtnlon not to hurt
her. The robbers nflcr having put
Mrs. Wlllburn under the Inlluence of the
nmcMhetlc. proceeded to ransnck the
bureau and it chest of drawers. They
took nothing however hut $2.M which
they found III n purse deposited In one of
the drawers. Mrs. Wlllburn Is badly
bruised and her hip was dislocated be-
sides siill'erlng a severe shock. Who
states that the mnn who pulled her on
the lloor was a while man a smooth
faced young fellow dressed In dark
pants and vest and wns In his shirt
sleetei. Mrs Wlllburn's boy who was
sleeping In tho next room was aroused
by the noise of the burglars but before
he entered Mrs. Wlllburn's room the
men had escaped and tho boy at once
Informed the police of the affair. A two
ounce phial was found In the room
which had evidently contained chloro-
form but nothing else was discovered to
lead to their Identity and up to tho
present time they have not heen arrest-
ed. Mrs. Wlllburn has had her Injured
limb set and Is progressing as well as
could he expected.

the Cumberland frcsbyterlan church
assembled Saturday night at llio resi

tin where her life has been spent thus
