Agricultural Notes
By A. W. KlnnarU, County Agent.
During last week a notable
series of gatherings were held at
the Agricultural and Mechanical
College of Texas. Among these
were the Farmers' Short Course
th j Country Life School, County
and District Agents Meeting of
men and women, and the Girls
Canning Clubs of Texas. The
attendance on all these were
unprecedented and the interest
unsurpassed by all former meet
ings.
The numbers attending these

eBl 1 I various meetings, the interest
displayed and the instruction re
ceived are all matters of pro-
found significance to the mater-
ial welfare of Texas. It signifies
that old and young, men and
women, boys and girls, farmers
and merchants, bankers and
teachers are profoundly impress-
ed with the need and necessity
of rural improvement as the
i
guard of our liberty, our institut
tions, our civilization.

lectures ancj^ actual demonstra

animal and plant disease, spray-

ding and grafting of pecans and
other fruits and nuts.
The crowning work of tlje
Agents Meeting was the more
thorough elaboration of a wider
but more definite, scheme of
specific activities or projects
upon which we may expect to
receive exj>ert assistance from
the respective members of the
staff of Specialists of the Exten-
sion Department.
In later articles I shall further
define these projects proiwsed
for Burleson County and invite
farmers from every part of the
county to offer as demonstrators
and cooperators in these restrict-
ive projects and agricultural
activities and demonstrations.
The first of these projects pro-
posed in terracing to prevent
soil erosion or washing. I will
at a Bargain All give a series of actual demonstra
hand lumber, iron j tions, terracing in various parts
er, engines and all of the county, beginning as soon
gin machinery. See
