Any man who ¡h philonpher
enough to find his own mouth in
the dark, must, ut the present
time, fall upon the question of
matrimony to moralize and from
which to evolve social maxims
and moral precepts. I now rush
into print with the following
theory and defy the world to
infringe upon my rights us an
originator. The recent epidemic
of marriages is a direct result of
the action of certain germs or
microbes in the human anatomy,
and is a natural consequence of
the protracted meeting mania
that so manifested itself in the
summer. The philosophic scien-
tist can easily discern the in-
timate relation existing between
the «salu te-y< >ur -brother-with -
the-holy-kiss religious gather-
ings in the summer and the «man
and wife episodes of the present
reason. Scientists have demon-
strated the existence of disease
baccilli, and one Ku^lishman has
authentically asserted that there
in such a thing as health germs,
ho it i only an analogous infer-
ence to suppose that the present
marriage craze is, like the itch
for office, insanity, longing for
notoriety and contempt for poor
relative , an outward effect of an

are tired of supporting unmar-

sons can then employ this as a
ready and legitimate means by
which to bring about a matrimo-
nial combination. Old bachelors
who are supremely anxious to
quit eating their own cooking,
will then have a valid excuse for
marrying and some means by
which to effect it. And the pro-
cess will be simple and inexpen-
sive.
Association must be with new-
ly-marrted couples, and persons
who arc unctuously desirous of
marrying; thoughts of the huppi-
ness of married life must be en-
tertained; highly scented envel-
opes and paper must be used in
corresponding; flowers and other
tokens of regard must be fre-
quently exchanged; and above
all due care must be taken to al-
low the peculiar germs in ques-

change their domicile at pleasure.

Again the dark tagd of death,
bearing* the aword that severed
the cord ol life* winded it way
into the home of Mr. and Mm J.
H. Cory and proclaimed aa its
victim our loved friend and broth-
er, Thomas P. Kdaon.
While the radiant light of thc
morning dawned on December
24th, the dim flickering light
from the lamp of life was silent-
ly growing darker. Just as the
morning sun roae in the east to
kiss the earth, the last spark of
life went out and the spirit re-
turned to God who gave it.
He met death without a mur-
mur. Submission to the will of
God leaving a testimony of a
hope in the seat beyond.
Mr. Kdson leaves two sisters,
Mrs. J. H. Cory and Miss KUa
Kdson. Also Mias Maud Barton
of Gay Hill, to whom he was to
have been married on December
16th, and many dear friends to
mourn his loss.
Just one week before they were
to have been united in the holy
bonds of wedlock, he was taken
sick, which proved to be the
means of a sad separation of a
dear and tender loving brother
from sisters, love done and
friends.
Gone but not forgotten. Dead
but still dear in th« memory of
those who knew him.
In the heart then is sadness;
in the home there is sorrow;
around the fireside there is a
vacant chair.
While we mourn with those
that mourn, there i- none that
can take the place ol this brother
and loved one.
Thomas P. Kds<*n was born
February 28, 1871; died Decem-
ber 24, 1 H'*7.
Yet when we think that he has
done with earthly care and pain,
we cannot wish our darling one
back to life again. He stepped
w ithin the golden gate.
A sympathizing friend,
D. D. D.

There can be no pleasure nor happi-

neys are unhealthy. They are weak,
sick and irritable, and find it burden,
some to perform work of any kind.
What they need is thorough treatment
with Dr. J. H. McLean's Liver and
Kidney Halm. This remedy is recog-
nized by many of the best medical
authorities as without a peer for the
cure of diseases of the kidneys or
liver. It rapidly drives out diseased
conditions and restores health,
strength, vigor and cheerful spirits.
