hinged lid 23 of the counter, and by lifting
the latter access is had thereto. By making
the counter and cabinet-top in one, as de-
scribed, no space is uselessly taken up, while
5 at the same time the counter-top may be used
as usual, and also serves as a cover for the
cabinet.
In Figs. 5 and ( I have illustrated a slightly-
modified cabinet. In this form the cabinet
io proper is constructed in the manner before
described, excepting that in the inner and
upper portion of each bin or compartment is
arranged a small tray 25, and instead of the
cabinet forming a part of a counter it serves
t5 as a kitchen - table, the top of the cabinet
forming the table-top, and the hinged lid 20 is
formed of a single piece of smoothly-planed
wood, which, when turned back, serves as a
bread-board, while the table-top serves all the
20 useful purposes of the usual kitchen-table.
The small trays are designed for the recep-
tion of coffee, salt, spices, and similar small
household supplies, while the bins or com-
partments are used for the storage of flour,
25 meal, and other supplies of greater bulk.
In both of the forms illustrated the top of
the cabinet forms a table-top, which may be
used for various purposes, while the cabinet
itself economizes space that would otherwise
30 be useless or useful for but few purposes.
Having described my invention, what I
claim is-
1. The combination with an upright table-
frame, of a rotary cabinet journaled therein
35 and provided with a plurality of radial com-
partments or bins open at the top, a plurality
of trapezoidal trays corresponding in number
to the said compartments or bins, one of said
trays being arranged in the inner and upper
40 portion of each of the compartments or bins,a table-top supported upon the top of said
frame and having an aperture adapted to reg-
ister with each of said compartments or bins,
and a hinged lid for closing said aperture,
substantially as described. 45
2. The combination with an inclosing frame,
of a revolving cabinet journaled therein, and
comprising two slotted partitions 8 and 9 fitted
together at a right angle one to another, bat-
tens 11 secured between the inner ends of 50
said partitions, intermediate partitions 10 at-
tached at their inner edges to said battens, a
bottom 15 attached to the lower edges of said
partitions, panels 13 closing the fronts of the
compartments or bins, and an apertured ta- 55
ble-top supported above said cabinet and pro-
vided with a hinged lid, substantially as de-
scribed.
3. The combination with the inclosing frame
comprising the top and bottom frames 2 and 60
3, uprights 4, and cross-bars 5 and 6, of the
rotary cabinet 7 having a series of radial com-
partments or bins and a bottom 15, a cross-
bar 17 attached to the under side of said bot-
tom, a bolt secured in the bottom and cross- 65
bar 17, and journaled in a step-bearing 20
seated in a recess in the cross-bar 0, a pivot-
bolt 21 secured in the partition S and jour-
naled loosely in the cross-bar 5, forming a
pivot for the upper end of the cabinet, and 70
an apertured table-top supported on the frame
2 and provided with a hinged lid, substan-
tially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set
my hand in presence of two subscribing wit- 75
nesses.
JOHN D. SMITH.
