District 57. Hp will run against
the veteran Henry Lehman, who
has served in the House of Re-
presentatives 12 years. Dr. Bry-
son spent all his Ufa practicing
medicine in Central Texas and la
now retired from that practice and
spends his time farming and
ranching. The doctor practiced
medicine at Bastrop from 1911
until 1047, when he sold his hos-
pital to two young doctors. He
Is 08 years of age, but active and
has u real sense of humor. Says
he is going to make a «tiff cam-
paign, especially in Burleson
County. He thinks the difference
¡tes in Burleson County; that he
will carry Bastrop County and
that Lehman will carry Lee Coun-
ty. Time will tell.

Wednesday Night, April 30th, n-
hout 11:80 p. m. The officers found
a large dice game in progress in
a hack room of the Nite Spot and
ronfiscated the dice, money and
other gambling equipment in the
room for evidence. Gambling
charges were filed with Judwe
Richard Weichert, Jr. against six
individuals who were found in th.
room when the officers arrived
Felony charges of keeping a gamh

long, hungry years, the Cald-
well High School Band, under
the direction of Boyd Hunt,
"brought home the bacon" last
Saturday at the Univeraity of
Houston when they were a*
warded a firat division in con-
cert playing in Class A competi-
tion at the Region 5 Band
Conteat.
During Hunt's first year as
Band Director, 1D50-51, the or-
ganization placed in a second divi-
sion, but close followers had ob-
s i ved the marked improvement
the past several months.
Division I, as defined in the

Clint Lewis, present County
Judge of "Burleson County, after
nerving one tarn in office, has
authorised the NEWS to an-

for re-election. Judge Lewis, for-
mer sheriff and for several yeara
operator of a large dairy farm
here, haa many friends all over
Burleson County and has a strong
political following.

publication Mr. Lewis said:

For Tomorrow
Precinct One To Hold
Meeting In Burleson
District Court Room.
The important Democratic Con-
ventions are to be held Saturday,
May 3, at 2:00 p. m. Precinct
number t will hold its convention
in the District Court Room of the
Court House, stated D. W. Burns,
chairman of the Burleson County
Democratic Committee. Mr. Burns
said all other precincts wiU hold
conventions at the usual voting
places in each precinct, unless n-
nother place has been designated
by the precinct chairman. Qunli-
fted voters are urged to contact
their respective precinct chairmen
to discuss the election and to ob-
tain the details. The precinet con*
vention is the only means whore-
by the Individual voter has an
opportunity of taking part in the
election of the President of the
United States. The election law
states that any qualified voter
may take part In the precinet
convention in his particular pre-
cinct.
