made tracks for the settlements.

slightly wounded during the engage-

Killed by a Mule.—On Saturday
morning last, an Irishman by the
name ol Jus. Clark, who has hereto-
fore been at work on Ibe Waco Tap

of the public square, was kicked in
the side by the vicious animal, from
• he efi'eet of which ne died in a short
time. His companion, Stephen Ro-
llan, who had been with him during

mediately started for¡x doctor, but
whan Dr. Sutton reached him all
hope of recovery was gone. 11 o died
in a lew minutes after the doctor's
