Another Tragedy in the Fu st
BisTRiCT.—John J. Lane, the proprietor
of the ''Storm" aaloon, at No 61 Front at.
bet wean Poydras and Lafayette, ooaamit-
ted «Ilicl le by shooting himself in the
head with a large sized Remington re-
ridver, at about 81 o'clock yesterday
mnraiDg. The deceased hud been labor-
ing under a depression of spirits for sev
tra! diys. frum some cause known only
t<> himself, and was alsne in his b«d-
r.ham tier at the time. This nhamber is
i'liincilmtely over the aaloon, and fronts
on thf street. He had left the saloon
only h If an huOT previously, after giving'
some instructions to' the bar tender, and
app arad to bo in a very pleasing humor,
lie was about 48 yars old, ami leaves
a widow, but no children. TlieOoroner
was sent for, and held an ioquest on the
body.
Mrs. Lin", w dow of tbe deceased said
she tnouglit it unusual for him to reaiaiu
«p stair* so long, and spoke to anothei
lady, who was in the yard with her, in
regird to it. Shu then w«nt up stairs,
and on opening the bed room door, found
him lying on the floor dead, the pistol
still in the rirht hand, and his thumb on
the (rigger. Dxceased was an Odd Fell-
ow and « Mason, and a large number of
his br -thoren of both fraternities called to
lO 'k upon him.
The reason no report of tha weapon
was heard by any one was accounted for
upon a close examiuiition. It-appears
that he plaoed the muzzle of the pistol in
his moutb, and then pulled the trigger.—
