OIL EXGITEMENT
III
E
There U some little excKment in
tihe WhitelK>u®e community over tho
discovery of oil on the farm of
Jim Gre-iH', who Uves two miles west
of Whitehouse.
A man who had been on the ground
stated tothe Cou'rior-Tta'es man torlay
that oil could be found on the sur-
face of the ground at many points.
Lignite is also to he found in quanti-
ties in the same locality. It is said
that lignite is always found near oil.
Ft is stated that the oil is of such
quality llhat a match stuck to it will
become ignited.
Several parties from Dalla , who
aTe sail to be oil experts, have been
on the ground for several days mak-
ing an investigation, and we learn
that they ^ay that there is unques-
tionably oil in that section, but to
what extent they are now unable to
say. •
A further investigation will be
made, and no doubt a stock company
will be formed for the purpose of bor-
ing a well.

Why does Grett Britisn buy
its oatmeal of us?
Certainly it seems like carrying
coals to Newcastle to speak of export-

The reason is simple; while tbe

brand is without a rival i to packed in
