Brown returns by water, I will send
you & Clara some articles. I want to
send her a bonnet when I have an
opportunity. Tom Peters and Albert entered
the Sophomore class at Oxford which
gives me a very poor opinion of the school.
Frank is no doubt as good a schollar
as either & had to enter the freshman
at Lagrange. he says Tom Peters wold
have been put in the preparatory there,
& that boys who went there to enter
classes too high for them were rejected
& went home. they have 100 students
in college proper & 25 or 39 in the
preparatory. he is delighted. pays 15$
a month board. You had better if you
want to sell Sallie be more reasonable
in your price, horses are not so high
now as when you bought her, & tho
she looks well she is not remarkably
fat. Mrs Doct Neely has another son.
Weighs 111b. this is .. Peters & his wife
have gone to Middle tennessee to be
absent 6 weeks. she is one of the most
disgusting women I ever saw, calls his
children all Peters & the Peters generation.
I do feel for them indeed, & poor Clara.
