PARISH, Joe L.
Born in Dallas, Texas on December 13,
1913; died February 4, 2000 in Santa
He came to Los Angeles age [sic] the age of
5. He attended Los Angeles public schools
and held running records at John Burroughs
Junior High and Hollywood High. He
graduated from Hollywood High in 1931,
after captaining both the cross country and
track teams. He owned or managed gasoline
service stations in Los Angeles for over 45
years, the last 32 years at various locations
on W. Pico Blvd. He never missed a day of
work due to illness. He loved golf and was a
popular member of the Ranch Park Men's
Club for many years.
He is survived by his wife of almost 67
years, Florence Negus Parish; son, Phil
Parish of Lake Almanor; son, Larry Parish
of Menlo Park; daughter, Pam Martin of
Simi Valley; eight grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren. He will be missed by
his many friends and family.

EMBRY, Frances Marguerite,
passed away April 17, 2000 in Dallas, Texas
Texas and was born May 15, 1914 in Dallas
Texas to Victor and Allie Mae Long Niblo.
Mr. and Mrs. Embry were self-employed as
piano tuner and bookkeeper. They were very
involved in the D.A.V. for many years.
Survived by her husband of 66 years,
Franklin L. Embry of Dallas; son and
daughter-in-law, Kenneth L. and Penny
Embry of Duncanville, Texas; two
grandchildren, Robert and Richard Embry,
both of Dallas. Cryptside services will be
held 10:00 am Thursday, April 20, 2000 at
Hillcrest Mausoleum Dr.
Fred Campbell, officiating. Entombment
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may
be made in her name to the Immaculate
Heart Community, 5515 Franklin Avenue,
Los Angeles CA 90028.
