Certified Lists of Graduating Students from Dallas Independent
School District High Schools, 1925
This article is a continuation from the 2009 DGS Journal of graduates from Dallas Independent
School District high schools. The schools represented here are Bryan Street High School, Forest
Avenue High School, Oak Cliff High School, North Dallas High School, and Booker
Washington High School. Graduates from both the winter and spring semesters are included.
Please refer to the 2009 Journal for brief histories of the schools.
In 1925, Bryan Street High School acquired a new principal, Leonard Power, who had moved up
from a career in elementary education. By 1928, Mr. Power had returned to elementary as co-
supervisor of the entire elementary system.2 Principals from the other high schools were those
returning from the previous year.
These graduate lists are found in the bound volumes of Minutes3 of the Board of Education in the
DISD vault in the Administration Building at 3700 Ross Avenue in Dallas. The names have been
transcribed as they appear except that, for uniformity and simplicity, they have been entered here
as "surname, given name." Some spellings appear to be typographical errors in the originals.
