Physical Description

1 postcard : b&w ; 9 x 13 cm.

Notes

Pontoon boats were used to help troops and supplies cross a body of water, usually a river. In this case the body of water was the Rio Grande. Pontoon boats would be tied together side by side in a river channel. A temporary bridge, usually made from simple wooden planks, would then be placed on top of the pontoon boats thus allowing troops and supplies to safely cross the river.
