Rattlers open season with Mission Eagles
The Rio Grande City Rattlers open their season with
a clash on the Mission Eagle Field this Friday evening
with kick-off time slated for 8 p.m.
The Rattlers under the helm of Head Coach Eliseo
Villarreal appear to be ready for the battle with the
Eagles comming from a good scrimmage with Port
Isabel last week. The Rattlers had worked to a score-
less tie with Aransas Pass but bounced last week to
defeat the Tarpons on the Tarpons home field.
The Rattlers go into schoolboy play behind the ex-
perience of field general Jose Leon Garcia and the full
back running of Roy Larralde with Ramiro Alcazar
running off one of the halfbacks. Alcazar has shown
great promise in the slot for Villarreal's charges.
Rio Grande City will meet Mission this Friday,
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo September 15, La Joya Sep-
tember 22 and Hebbronville September 29 before tak-
ing an open dace break October G.

gains* Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Edcouch-Elsa on Octo-
ber 20, Falfurrias on October 27, Raymondville, No-
vember 3, Donna on November 10, Mercedes will close
out the Rattler season on November 17.
Thi? week the Rattlers will be depending heavily on
Ray Munsell at tackle. Munsell is a two time all-dis-
trict selection at that position. Ray will be seeing ac-
tion of both offense and defense for Villarreal's char-
ges.
Munsell will be paired off at the position with Juan
Sanchez a 215 pound returning letterman.
At the guard position will be Ricky Hinojosa and
Roel Reyna.
The Rattlers face a team that has also gone under
reconstruction but who have returning quarterback
Scott Randolph. The Mission Eagles are under the
helm of Jerry Tomsu who was hired by the Mission
