violation of my probation,"
Guerra said.
Guerra said that he understood
later that Shelton had hit him
because he had not said "Hello"
to Shelton but that this was no
excuse for attacking him.
"I kept asking him why he had
done it and he kept asking tne
what I was going to do about it,"
Guerra said.
Guerra said that he felt the
incident came from the fact that
his brother and three other
teachers had last week filed suit
against the school board for not
re-hiring them and the suit
named the school trustees,
Shelton, high school principal
Ramlro Barrera and Roma Ma-
yor J.C. Guerra.
"I cannot go around fighting or
I will have to answer to my pro-
bation officer," Guerra said.
Also taking the stand was Mrs.
Guerra who told the court that
she did not see who had pushed
her husband but that she felt
"something" was going to hap-
pen that night because of the
suit.
She said that when she saw
her husband stumble forward
she immediately went looking
for Guerra's brothers Raul and
Ronnie.
She said after returning to her
husband's side she heard her
husband telling Shelton that that
was no manner for a Superin-
tendent to conduct himself es-
pecially among so many chil-
dren.
She said there was "no rea-
son" for the push because there
was plenty of room for Shelton

Incident.
Also testifying to Guerra was
his brother Ronnie who told the
court that although he was in
the lobby he could see an an-
gry discussion going on between
his brother and Shelton and that
he did hear Shelton repeat,
"What are you going to do about
it,"
Shelton took the stand and told
the court that he was walking
towards the doors looking for
his young daughter and did
"bump into hint unintention-
ally," but denied having done it
on purpose or having done It to
start a fight.
"I bumped into Mr. Guerra
and passed on through but he
yelled out "Don't you ever bump
into me again" and had
challenge Shelton to go some-
where private to "settle this,"
Shelton told the court.
"I bumped into him uninten-
tionally and if I had wanted to
start a fight I would have struck
him other times, but the inci-
dent was so insignificant that
I thought little of it until he
raised his voice to warn me that
I better not bump into him a-
gain," Shelton told the court.
High school principal Ramiro
Barrera sustained Shelton's
story and said that he never
realized that there had been an
incident until Guerra raised his
voice to tell Shelton that that
was no way for a Superinten-
dent to act.
"People bump into each other
coming out of any game or func-
tion in any gym and I don't feel
that this was done intentionally
or for purpose of provoking
Mr. Guerra," Barrera said.

any threat on Guerra In any
