The Rio Grande City
Woman's Club met on Thur-
sday, January 3, in the home of
Mrs. Mack Cummings. A Talk
on the Energy Crisis was
presented by guest speaker,
George Edgerton, from the
International Affairs Depart-
ment, Public Affairs Division.
Woman's Club President,
Mrs. Felipe V. Ramon, presided
over the business meeting.
Program chairmen for the
evening were Mesdames G.A.
Garza, Howard Bass, J.M.
Izaguirre, and Mel Campbell
The program titled, "New
Horizons on Current Issues",
was carried out by the speaker,
who spoke spontaneously on the
seriousness of the current

was a Consultant Geologist in
Austin for several years,
covered the timely subject in an
interesting and knowledgeable
manner.
The speaker asserted that the
energy crisis will last a while
and is a very real matter.
Oilmen have known for years
that the shortage was bound to
happen, since the easy to obtain
oil had already been drilled. Oil
experts know where oil might
possibly be found, but no big
supply is readily available, as
oil is neither produced nor
drilled in a brief time.
Following the program the
hostess, Mrs. Cummings,
served strawberry pound cake
with cream cheese frosting,
nuts, and coffee to the members
and guests.
