Following a turbulent period in
history, the British gained
possession of both Trinidad and
Tabago. Under the British rule the
two islands received law and order

session, the trustees voted to hire
two new teachers: Ami Jean
Schcmpcr and Jeffrey Leo Usclman.
The trustees also voted to renew the
contract of Tax Assessor-Collector
Hcbcrto Barrera for one year.
Cano noted that he was
constructed by the board toward
working for an alternative schools
for students with discipline
level, and students that need greater
proficiency in the English
language.
Cano commented, "This would
keep students who have been
expelled due to discipline problems
from being put out on the streets."
Cano added, "I was delighted that
the board moving forward on this.
This will benefit the district
tremendously in that students who
haven't been helped before will be
helped. It's not up to us to turn our
backs on any of these kids. The
board wants to get this started in
four to six weeks."
