Central Power and Light
Company (CPL) has named Enrique
Resendez as Manager of Customer
Relations for the company's
Southern Division.
This is a new, key management
position within the company's
newly integrated Customer
Relations Organization.
"We're continuing to change the
way we do business to focus on
exceptional customer care and
constant innovation in customer
service," said Gonzalo Sandoval,
CPL general manager-president.
"This new management position
was created as a result of changes
that will provide more responsive
and reliable customer service in
addition to an even greater emphasis
on economic and community
development efforts."
Resendez's responsibilities as
CPL's manager of customer
relations include the supervision of
the division's customer service
specialists, commercial and
industrial consultants and account
managers. Additionally, Resendez
will work to continually identify
process improvements and
innovative solutions for various
customer issues and coordinate the
company's involvement in
professional and trade organizations.
Resendez was formerly a client
account manager for CPL. He
started his career with CPL nearly
26 years ago in 1972 as an
electrical engineer in the Rio
Grande Valley area. During the
following 14 years, Resendez
received several promotions within
the engineering area with moves to
CPL's Home Office in Corpus
Christi and to Laredo.
In 1986, he became the manager
of central meter services, and in
1988 was named area manager for
the Kingsville area. In 1989,
Resendez was promoted to
supervisor of engineering services,
and the following year he was
promoted to manager of
transmission and distribution
standards and drafting.
In 1991, Resendez was promoted
to a business consultant position
within CPL's economic
development department, and in
1995 was named a key account
executive. He holds a Bachelor of

"We are out to earn our
customers' business as if they can
choose their electricity supplier

approaching when they will have
that choice," said Sandoval. "The
focus of our Customer Relations
organization is the customer - their
success is our success."
Credit Counseling Agency to
offers services in RGC area
Consumer Credit Counseling
Service of South Texas w ill expand
their operations by offering agency
services in Rio Grande City this
month.
This brings the number of CCCS
offices in the Valley area to five,
and is the fourth expansion in a
year for this nonprofit agency.
Lori Pridges, director of
community relations, says that
demand for CCCS services
prompted the expansion. "CCCS
has a large number of requests for
appointments from people living
and working in Starr County, " said
Pridgen. "We know that high
unemployment and low income
cause financial problems for many
in the area."
The office will be located in the
Central Power and Light office,
1200 W. Main Street in Rio Grande
City. Counseling appointments
will be available on Wednesdays,
beginning June 10. According to
Albert Macias, area business
manager, the counseling service is a
welcome addition to the community
programs supported by CPL. "I
know there is a real need for their
services here. CP&L is pleased to
provide CCCS with a private place
for the counselor and the consumer
to meet," said Macias.
CCCS offers free budget and
credit counseling, managed debt
repayment plans and consumer
education. Established locally in
1969, CCCS is a nonprofit, United
Way agency and has 17 offices
throughout South Texas. The
agency is a member of the National
Foundation for Consumer Credit,
the Better Business Bureau and is a
HUD-cerufied counseling center.
Pridgen says that the Rio Grande
City office is opening on a trial
basis to determine feasibility of
further expansion in the Rio Grande
Valley area. For an appointment or
additional information, contact
CCCS at (800) 333-4357.
