RGCCISD issues Student Code of
Conduct for 2009-10 school year
The Rio Grande City CISD
has prepared and approved
its Code of Conduct for the
2009-2010 school year. This
information is now available
on-line, on a CD, or in paper
copy by request.
The mission statement for
Rio Grande City CISD is
that we "as an educational
organization committed to
preparing all students to
meet the academic, creative
and social challenges and
responsibilities of our
society, will ... implement a
rigorous, integrated,
technological and
comprehensive curricula
from Pre-K to post
secondary; provide school
facilities that are conducive
to a safe and orderly
environment; attract, retain,
and develop qualified and
effective personnel; provide
and maintain an effective
and efficient fiscal
management system; and
embrace school community
partnerships."
With this in mind, every
school district in the State of
Texas is required to adopt a
Student Code of Conduct.
The Rio Grande City CISD
Student Code of Conduct for
2009 - 2010, (hereinafter
referred to as "RGC-
SCOC"), is the District's
response to the requirements
of Chapter 37; Discipline,
Law and Order of the Texas
Education Code. The law
requires the District to
establish standards of
student conduct and to
identify the circumstances
under which a student may
be removed from a
classroom, campus or
disciplinary alternative
education program,
transferred to a disciplinary
alternative education
program, suspended or
expelled. The "RGC-
SCOC" provides
information to parents and
students regarding
expectations for behavior,
consequences of miscondu t,
and procedures for
administering discipline.
A copy of the "RGC-
SCOC" is available for
review in the principal's
office of each campus in the
district. In case of conflict
between the District's
Student Code of Conduct
and a campus' student
handbook, the Rio Grande
City CISD Student Code of
Conduct for 2009 -2010 will
prevail. The "RGC-SCOC"
is adopted by the District's
Board of Trustees and has
the force of policy. In an
effort to provide parents and
students with as many
avenues for success as
possible, Rio Grande City
CISD is promoting an
innovative and varied
communication system to
disseminate school
discipline issues, specifically
the Rio Grande City CISD
Student Code of Conduct for
2009 - 2010.
The "RGC-SCOC" will be
available to students,
parents, community
members, school personnel,
and any other person who
may want to become more
familiar with the "RGC-
SCOC" through several
communication systems
which include; first, a hard
copy will be printed for any
parent, student, community
member or school personnel
as requested; secondly, if a
parent and student have
access to a computer, a CD-
ROM (Disk) will also be
available; and third, the Rio
Grande City CISD's web
site will have available the
"RGC-SCOC" on-line at the
following web site address:
www.rgccisd.org. If you do
have access to a computer,
the principal's office at your
child's campus will print a
copy of the "RGC-SCOC"
for you, upon request.
We urge every parent,
student, community member
and school personnel to
discuss the "RGC-SCOC"
among your families, peers,
and all interested parties. If
you have any questions
about the rules and
consequence!;, we encourage
you to ask for an explanation
from the student's teacher,
the school counselor, or
campus administrator.
For further information,
assistance, and/or questions,
please contact the respective
campus principal and / or
designee.

Department cooked up a
victory at the college's
Appetite for Education
Cook-Off held July 25, 2009
at Dodge Arena. STC's
CADD Department "Code
Red" Team Drought home
the "Reserve Grand
Champion" title for the
event, placing them in
second place overall in terms
of points scored.
"We were amazed to
receive the honor,
considering that it was our
first time competing in any
cooking competition," said
Rey Sanchez, chair of STC's
CADD Department. "But I
think we designed some
winning recipes using great
spice combinations."
The team was comprised
on Sanchez, as well as STC
CADD Department alums
Eric Gonzalez and Cornelius
Hernandez, as well as Isaac
Hernandez, brother of
Cornelius.
The cook-off, sanctioned
by the International Bar-B-
Que Cookers Association
(IBCA). had 17 competitors,
grilling up the best of
cobbler, beans, chicken,
fajitas. pork spare ribs and
brisket. In addition to
winning second place
overall, the team won second
place in the pork spare ribs
and brisket categories, fourth
place in fajitas and eighth
place in chicken.
"We missed out on being
named event grand
champion by just a few
points and we beat out some
professional cooks who are
regulars in competitive
cooking competitions across
the nation," added Sanchez.
"It was nerve racking to
make the deadline for the
turn in times, but it was also
very exciting."
The team brought in $300
in prize money, which will
feed their newfound interest
in the sport.
"We are hooked on
competitive cooking and
plan to use the prize money
to purchase more tools to
build up our arsenal," said
Sanchez. "This is the start of
a new, fun hobby and I hope
to get more STC CADD
faculty, students and alumni
involved because it's another
great way for us to use our
design skills - cooking up
winning entries!"
In addition to its cooking
contribution, STC's CADD
Department also helped
design the trophies for the
cook-off.
"We held a competition
with our Solid Modeling
Class in the spring, asking
students to design trophies
for the event and one of our

2009 Property lax Rates in City of Rio Grande City
This nonce concerns 2009 property tax rates for City of Rio Grande City , It presents information about three tax rates.
Last year's tax rate is the actual rate the taxing unit used to determine property taxes last year This year's effective tax
rate would impose the same total taxes as last year if you compare properties taxed in both years. This year's rollback
tax rate is the highest tax rate the taxing unit can set before taxpayers can start tax rollback procedures In each case these
rates are found by dividing the total amount of taxes by the tax base (the total value of taxable property) with adjustments
as required by state law. The rates are given per $100 of property value
Last year's tax rate:
Last year's operating taxes
Last year's debt taxes

This year's effective tax rate:

+ This year's debt rate 0.000000 /S100
= This year's total rollback rate 0.601791 /SI00
- Sales tax adjustment rate 0.250336/$I00
