Mr. Frank Lehan made a business trip to Stephenville this
week.
Mr. S. Mims and wife of Fort Worth came out Tuesday for a
brief visit.
Mr. John Pendleton has accepted a position firing at the ice
plant, night watch
The rainfall of Tuesday night was the genuine article. Just

Mrs. Wallace Baker is suffering from a wound in her foot
caused by a nail, which penetrated it.
It is said an interesting race for Justice of the Peace and Road
Commissioner will occur in this precinct.
There is be a Polish [and an Italian wedding solemnized at
the Catholic church a week from Snnday.
Rev. Mr. Wood, Methodist pastor, preaches at Union church
Sunday and Sunday night, his regular appointment.
The Knights of Pythias ball for the 19th will certainly be a
social success, for the Knights are working to make it so.
Mr. Arthur J. Terrell, for some time past petty cashier in the
Hardware department, having resigned his position, left Monday
for Austin.
The lee Plant, after a thorough overhauling, was put in op-
eration again Tuesday, and Manager Woodson is better pleased
with its working now.
Leffler's stay is limited to a very short time. Don't postpone
having a negative made because of cloudy weather. Don't
wait. Studio open all day.
Mr. Back wants to buy all the hogs that are for sale in this
and adjoining counties. He will pay the highest market price in
"long green" or free silver.
Misses Lena Woodson and Lily McAdams visited Miss Gracie
Jamieson and Vada Turvin in Gordon last Sunday afternoon,
and attended church at night.
Mr. Lofflin, Thurber's*Hardware King, talks mighty interest-
ingly to the people through the Journal this week. Bob's a
pusher, and is reaching out for trade.

The candidates mentioned therein are those soliciting your .
votes, and they will appreciate the same.
Mr. John Ball, who has been unable for some weeks to work,
on account of rheumatism peculiarly affecting his insteps, was
able to walk to his meals occasionally this week.
Boys, remember the regular monthly Fire Department meet-
ing Tuesday night. Expulsion follows non-attendance, unless
an excuse acceptable to the Department is given.
The Journal will very much appreciate news notes from the
various shafts every week. If some reader will send them in by
Wednesday noon we will make it to their interest.

Professor Oscar F. Chastain, candidate for Tax Collector, vis-
ited Bluffdale and other points in the county on Friday night
and Saturday of last week in the interest of his candidacy.
