the altar Guild ever since the 20's and I am still doing that. And, in the
early days, of course we didn't have near as many services as we do now
and the -- I said we miss Mary Palms and we have lived with-lr. and
Mrs. Lee was the main one about the altar Guild and she told everybody
what to do and so forth and I helped her. Later on -- and oh, Ms.
Virginia McLaughflin was also active with us, and then we didn't buy
flowers, we went around and cut flowers out of people's yard or they
would tell us we could have them for service on Sunday. There wasn't
any purchase of flowers or anything like that and later one different ones
joined the altar Guild. It is just wonderful that there are so many. Of
course, I don't remember any -- very few dates. I mean, that way, but
it was many, many years before we even had a little parish house there
separate from the church and Mr. Bartholomew made that possible for us
to get it -- buy it and help -- I should say, they called it for a long time
the Bartholomew House and it served many purposes and the Young
People's Service League, of which my youngest sister was very active in,
oh they had plays and things like that there. They were coached by Israel
Fogdon and then of course later on they bought the property and I think
it was 1965 when we built something -- a real addition. I don't know
what else you want.
Dougherty: Who married you there?
Thomson: Uh?
Dougherty: Who married you? Which?
Thomson: Beverly Boyd.
Dougherty: What was Austin like when you were young? What schools did you go to?
Thomson: I don't know what to say about that. We just did everything. Anything
and everything. It was just a small town that we all grew up in.
Dougherty: You knew everybody?.
Thomson: Knew everybody.
Dougherty: What school did you go to?
Thomson: Uh?
Dougherty: What school did you go to?
