NEW HOOKS
The new Hi-Way garage, with it-
attractive exterior, anil pretty roomy
interior, complete with plenty of of-
fice spare, an expansive show room,
ami garage -pace has recently bei n
completed by Howard Perkins.
Mr. Perkins lias made every effort
to include every convenience and all
modern equipment in his garage. The
rest-rooms are finishd with a near-
tile surface, all new and entirely san-
itary.
Among other improvements about
town we must mention the new Pig
gly-iWiggly Store, which will pro-
bably be opened formally the lattc
part of next week, located in the Ran-
some building formerly occupied by
the Fairmont ( reamery.
The building has been entirely re-
finished. with a very attractive front
show window, and the interior ,j.« fit-
ted with new fixture- in oak, decora-
ted in chromium and green.

Birkner of Blanco, conducting the
-ervice. The pall bearers, all nep-
hews of Mr. Alexander, were Harrell
Hiving*, Ciene Bivings, and John li-
vings of Dallas, Joe Alexander of
Austin, and John Kagland Alexander
and Mack Alexander of Cedar Creek.
Krnmi't McCoy Alexander was born
in Cedar Creek on June 28, INSO, and
in this community he spent his en-
tire life, leaving it a rich heritage of
a full life well lived. He was married
in Cedar Creek on October 27, PJft'i
to Miss Lemma Litton, who survives
him. He is also survived by two
daughters, Mrs. Jack Queen of Farm-
mgton, New Mexico ami Miss Jo Ret
Alexander of New Orleans, |«a., and
>ne son, John Riley Alexander, of Ce
dar Creek; his mother, Mrs. Dor.-'i-
I Alexander of Dallas, two sister.-,

The communities of Cedar Creek
and Bastrop have suffered a distinct
loss jn the death of Kmmet Alexande",
whose whole-hearted friendship an I
kindly advice will be sorely misse I.
His name was a synonym for honesty
and uprightness. He was a staunc.i
defender of right principles, and the
whole record of hi.- life was that of a
man guided by the highest ideal- of |
fine, clean, strong manhood.
lie had a kindly and sympathetic \

associates, and the influence of such I
a spirt will continue to live througnj

The Buiek sedan was stolen from
in front of the Robert E. Jenkiiir
home at noon Tuesday by the three
boys, after they had abandoned a
stolen car on the Paige highway east
of Bastrop. The Hasler car was found
parked in an alley in North Austin
Tuesday night, and returned.

in the Bastrop County jail pending

today. Bailey came to Austin on June
8, and visited one of the Austin boys
