The evidences of an advanced civilization are supported by those marked
improvements in the
manufacturing industries which have astonished the
wisest in the land.
The importance to-day of any and all growing cities, such as we must class
Denton, lies in the facilities for supplying the needs of all people from the
monied aristocrat to the humblest home laborer, and in no instance is it more
positively exemplified than that pertaining to the universal supply of all imple"]"'
ments in the iron line covered by the simple term "hardware."
Every household, every business establishment, every individual has an
imperative use for one or.manv articles belonging to the hardware profession.
We dwell in the present. article on the establishment of A. F. Evers, which
supplies these needs in both a wholesale and retail way to the residents of our
city, the farmers of the county and the retail houses of twenty-six towns adjoining
in Denton county.
Denton, with her beautiful agricultural surroundings, being already the Commercial
Centre and Metropolis of the county, and with her present encouraging
prospects to rival some of the largest cities in Texas, must be proud of' the enterprise
and business energy of some of her merchants.
For many days the city has maintained a steady basis of improvement and
importance on the map of Texas, but now her real boom is at hand; the farmer,
:I' ~ on whom all inland cities depend is encouraged, and soon will be more so; the
:.' ~ merchant is wide awake to the happy future in store for us all; and the publishers
, '.' ~of the Denton Review and Directory are glad to call attention to the hardware
: . . " house of A. F. Evers on South side of the square, as being one managed
?-:p _by young and enterprising men, fully abreast of the times, and with an eye to
the future interest of the surrounding country, which is a credit not
only to the
city and county, but to themselves.
Unless their trade was merited through progressive enterprise and proper
. '.. dealings teey could not enjoy their present popularity nor the extensive
patronage given them from city and county alike.
