I wi 1 now close by saying that T have tried to
ve a statement of facts for the benefit of the rising
generations who mav want to know something of the
l-eginning of Mineral Wells. I do not give this as a
history of Mineral Wells for this would take a great
deal of time and labor which would be hard to obtain
at this time. As I have said I wanted to state facts as
they came under my observation. As I have been a
surveyor for over fifty years and have liW-ed in Mineral
Wells nearly forty veas, it is in my line of business
to keep up with the gowth of the town. I know
there will be some that will question the truth of
these statements, but I have living witnesses
1hbt I cai prove what I hv:e said. To Ilustrate. I was
talkinoz the other dar with a man whol cnme in the
ftll of 1881, he said Uncle Tom Richards and Mr. J.
G. Ford came here in 1882: I know thev came in the
fall of 1881 for Uncle Tom went to school to me the
whole session to say he came here next year would be
after my school was closed. I am going to have this
published in pamplet form so every body can get a
copy that want it, so good by.
