Description

Composite photograph of three different Danevang homes belonging to Iver Ebbesen and his wife Hansigne Ebbeson, which span the length of several years.

The first image is a single-story structure with a tiered gable roof and a front porch patio where the family has gathered for a group picture. Iver and Hansigne are presumably the man and the woman sitting next to each on the far left. They are joined by five children, none of whom have been identified. Accompanying text on the left reads:
"DANEVANG, TX. The larger part is the first home Iver built in 1894/95 to house his family of four. He added two small ones as his family grew.[sic]"

The second image is of a two-story structure with intersecting gable roofs and a patio that is covered by an overhang supported by four equally spaced slender columns. A small tree is in front of it. A horse-drawn carriage is to the left of the tree. The typed text continues on the right and reads:
"In 1908 he rebuilt into this large two story house. As the farms prospered all of Danevang improved their homes and property.
Iver and Hansigne Larsen were married May 28, 1858 in Fredsville, Iowa. Ebbe and Abelone were born in Iowa, the other 11 were born in Danevang.
Of their 13 children only 7 lived to maturity. (There were two sets of twins.)[sic]"

The third image is a single-story structure with intersecting gable roofs and dark-colored siding. The windows and doors are bordered by a light-colored trim. Two small children can be seen near the front steps leading to the front door. One of them appears to be riding a bicycle.
To the left of the image is a third line of text that reads:
"In 1926, with only two children left at home, and widowed, Signe had this home built. She lived here until her death in 1928.
Laurits and Abelone Wind Harton bought the home for $1060.00, and raised all four of their children there.
