DAI 'L, FINE ArtL: NEWS RELEASE Immediate release Contact: Patricia Porter DALLAS - MINNEAPOLIS INTERCHANGE The work of artists from Minnesota and Texas will be paired in a cooperative exhibition called Interchange, opening at the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts on July 26 and continuing through September 4. The project, sponsored by the Dallas Museum and the Walker Art Center of Minneapolis, will feature three artists from each state and will be seen in Minneapolis from December 17 through January 28. Selected by curators from both museums to participate in the exhibi- tion are painters Sam Gummelt and Jim Roche and sculptor George Green from Texas and painters Jerry Kielkopf and Jerry Ott and sculptor Carl Brodie from Minnesota. The Dallas opening marks the first exhibition of the Interchange program which was conceived as a pilot project with the hope that other museums across the country will sponsor similar exhibitions of multi-regional work. These exhibitions provide opportunities for a decentralization of New York and Los Angeles art production and enable artists from different regions to exchange ideas. Organized by Robert M. Murdock, Curator, Dallas Museum of Fine Arts and Richard Koshalek, Curator, Walker Art Center, Interchange is supported by grants-in-aid awarded by the Texas Commission on the Arts and Humanities, with funds appropriated by the Texas State Legislature and the Minnesota State Arts Council with funds appropriated by the Minnesota State Legis- lature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
