The 18th annual Southwestern Print and Drawing Exhibition will open at
the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts on Wednesday, October 29 highlighting sixty-
nine works by sixty-one of the finest regional artists.
The print and drawing show is the only competitive exhibition of its kind
held in the area and as in the past, drew excellent response from artists in
seven states. There were over 400 entries submitted by 220 artists from New
Mexico, Arkansas, Colorado, Arizona, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas. The
drawings were juried by Henry Hopkins, Director of the Fort Worth Art-Center-
Museum, and will tour a circuit of ten museums and universities.through
December of 1970.
Five purchase awards and five honorable mentions were selected by Mr.
Hopkins. The awards winners will be announced at the Member's Preview to be
held on Tuesday, October 29 at 9 p.m. at the museum.
Outstanding young artists included in the exhibition are Clinton Adams,
Albuquerque, New Mexico; Garo Z. Antreasian, Albuquerque, New Mexicof William
C. Balusek, Fort Worth; Mort Baranoff, Austin; H. Dixon Bennett, McAllen;
Bael Bennett, Pueblo, Colo.; Thomas W. Benton, Aspen Colorado; Betty Thompson
Boulet, Dallas; Al Bowman, Dallas; James Boynton, Houston; George Brownlee,
Fort Collins, Colorado; Bob Camblin, Houston; and Dale Conner of Fort Worth.
Also, Philip J. Cook, Tucson, Arizona; Lee Baxter Davis, Commerce; Waynette
King Davis, Commerce; James T. Dormer, Loveland, Colorado; James Dowell, Dallas,
Vernon Fisher, Sherman; Jamk Fletcher, San Antonio; J. C. Glaman, Taos, New Mexico)
