Lawrence Edward Brown entered into this earthly life on April
3, 1923, born to the union of Lee Burnell Brown and Emma Bell
Tucker Brown in Karnes County -- Runge, Texas.
One of three children, he was preceded in death by his two
sisters Margaret Pearl and Velae', his parents and his only son,
well-known San Antonio photographer Lelaurin Ferrero Brown.
Lawrence received his formal secondary school education in
the Runge public schools and at Solomon M. Cole High School
in Corpus Christi. He continued his education at Gulf Coast
Vocational Institution and at St. Philip's College in San Antonio,
Lawrence also served his country in the United States Army.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, he became an
employee of the City of San Antonio. He worked in the City's
Traffic Engineering Department and, when his vision failed, as
a Clerk II. He retired from the City on September 30, 1986.
He grew to love the Lord through his religious upbringing at
Ecleto Morning Star Baptist Church in Runge, Texas. Upon
moving to San Antonio, he united with West End Baptist Church
where he remained until the Lord called him home.
Lawrence was united in holy matrimony to Fannie Mae Grant
with whom he maintained a lifelong friendship. One son, Lelaurin
Ferrero Brown, was born to their union.
Lawrence was a strong man who lived his life with grace. Even
though he lost his vision and suffered through a lengthy illness,
he never complained.
On Thursday night, April 21, 2005, Lawrence went home to
be with his Lord and Savior.
He leaves to celebrate his homegoing Sandra Brown and her
son Andre L. Brown, Geraldine Jones Woods, Leonard Mark
Williams and family, the Tucker family, Sammie Williams, his
devoted friend and special caretaker Fannie Mae Brown, brother-
in-law J. B. Grant, caretakera Sharon Campbell and Lisa Wright-
RN, and a host of friends and relatives.
