Robert Daniels, one of eight children born to Robert Al-
exander and Sadie Daniels, January 15, 1930 in Chica-
go, Illinois, passed from this life on Saturday, August 27,
1988. He was well known for his generosity , his tireless ef-
forts to his business, and devotion to his family and his
Lovingly referred to as "Mr. D" by his employees, Dan-
iels was never one to sit on the sidelines. It was not unu-
sual to see him working side by side with employees,
performing one of the many tasks of the maintenance
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1971 after serving in
Korea and Viet Nam. He was a member of many Ci-
vic organizations including the U.S. Chamber of Com-
merce, the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Com-
merce, the Small Business Association 8 (A) Contractors
Association. He served on the Board of Trustees of the
Laborers' Employers Education and Training Trust Fund,
Laborers' International Union Health and Welfare Trust
Fund. He was a lifetime Member of the NAACP, Actively
involved in Project Free, Co-Sponsor of the Miss Black
San Antonio Pageant, a member of the Alamo City Li-
ons Club, and other numerous organizations. He was a
primary financial supporter of Project DARE, a drug pre-
vention and education program targeted for the east-
side of San Antonio.
