Very TruK.—The Rome Courier
very truly says that "a well conduct-
ed press is worth more to a city or
town than five times the amount of
capital could be investetfhj, any other
business. It is the advoclie and
moral support of all matters of local
interest and enterprise. Newspapers
reflect more than anything else the
standard of* civilization and intel-
ligence of a community or a sector,
of country. They* are their
sentei upon the watch tower, of the
people's liberties and of their
material interest, and no true people
should fail to stand firmly by their
local press in a liberal spirit anc?
judicious support of it."
